sigil. encrypts photos and videos on your iPhone and opens them only with the pattern you draw. It has no account and no server, so some things only you can do, from your phone. Here’s how.

01What sigil. is
sigil. is an iPhone app that encrypts photos, videos and documents on your phone with 256-bit encryption. It opens only with a pattern drawn on a 5×5 dot grid: no Face ID or Touch ID.
There is no account and no server. Your vaults stay on your phone, we have no copy of them, and the app sends no usage statistics. Details in our Privacy policy and Terms.
02Getting back in
If you forget your pattern, the only way back in is your recovery phrase: the 12 words the app showed you when you created your vault.
- Nobody, not even us, can recover your pattern or your photos. We have no server, no copy and no keys: there is no reset, and support can’t open a vault.
- Without your pattern and your recovery phrase, the vault stays encrypted and we have no way to open it.
- If self-destruct has erased your vaults, the recovery phrase won’t bring them back either.
Keep the 12 words on paper, away from your phone. Never send them to us: we will never ask for them.
03Restoring purchases
Pro is tied to your Apple Account. If you switch iPhones or reinstall the app, open sigil. and go to Settings › Purchases › Restore purchases, signed in with the Apple Account you bought it with.
Restoring turns Pro back on; it doesn’t move your content. Photos and vaults stay on the phone where you created them.
04Cancelling the yearly plan
Subscriptions are managed by Apple. Open iOS Settings › [your name] › Subscriptions, choose sigil. and tap Cancel Subscription. Pro stays active until the end of the period you’ve already paid for.
Deleting the app doesn’t cancel the subscription. Pro forever is a one-time purchase: there is nothing to cancel.
05Refunds
Payments go through Apple: we don’t see your payment details and can’t issue refunds. You can ask Apple for one at reportaproblem.apple.com, signed in with your Apple Account. Apple decides under its own terms.
06Contact us
Write to team@firstlayersrl.com. Tell us your iPhone model, your iOS version and your sigil. version. Don’t send us photos, your pattern or your recovery phrase.
